Our Judges are chosen on the basis of their knowledge and skill-set within Healthcare, as well as their passion for the NHS. We are proud that our judges represent a genuine lived experience of an NHS employee at all levels. We know that as in previous years, your nominations are in safe and trusted hands.

Public Choice
Public Choice is open to all members or the public who have had a direct or indirect positive experience with a Non-Clinical / Non-Medical member of staff, or a Volunteer, in the past year.

Mental Wellness Champion
A Mental Wellness Champion is an individual, Team, or Volunteer in a Non-Medical / Non-Clinical setting who actively works to enhance the mental wellness, focus, resilience, and confidence of the staff at their place of work. Other Mental Wellness Champions might work at a regional or national level and provide NHS Approved guidelines and initiatives for inclusion across the NHS for its staff.

Admin & Clerical
Admin and Clerical provides a human touch in a processed-based role. Individuals and teams who work in this area must be proficient and well organised as amongst other important tasks, they are working with detailed records of patients and staff.

Apprentice of the year
Apprenticeships in the NHS are varied and are open to anyone from the age of 16 upwards. They differ in their level, intensity, and duration. Apprenticeships provide a route into hundreds of different careers within the NHS and contribute to making the staff (and Unsung Heroes!) of tomorrow. Individuals who are undertaking an apprenticeship are being paid to acquire new skills and knowledge.

Corporate Services
Corporate Services provides support to many areas of a Hospital, including internal and external Communications – the ‘voice’ of the NHS, and Business Services, which make sure finances are properly budgeted and spent wisely and that staff are recruited fairly and properly trained. Individuals and Teams who work across this area must directly support patients, staff, and organisations inside and outside the NHS.

Estates & Ancillary
Estates and Ancillary provides the essential delivery of all NHS services. Individuals and teams who work across this sector cover inside and outside repairs and maintenance of Hospitals and the grounds around them.

IT & Digital
IT and Digital services create smooth systems and ensure that patient information is available in the right place, at the right time, for clinicians to deliver the right care. The department powers technology that gives clinicians new insights into illness and disease and provides solutions that make patient care better, while also improving the working lives of NHS staff.

Volunteer of the year
Volunteers are vital to the continued running of the NHS and make a huge contribution to the health of the nation by giving their time, skills, and passion to support the NHS. Individuals who work in this much appreciated area cover all age ranges and skill sets, and support staff, patients, and the public.
