Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

We would like to nominate, as Unsung Heroes, the THERAPY STATS TEAM, based at Northwick Park hospital, a team that has over 50 years of experience in total. Over the year, our team has had very many challenges to ensure that the department records the submitted stats, processes treatment referrals, and sends correspondence to parents, GPs and other referrers. We also submit charges for the treatments (physiotherapy, speech and language and occupation therapies), in a timely manner to the Finance department. The team works diligently to meet deadlines and, by nature of being a corporate support function, does so without its contribution being recognised or acknowledged. The Therapy Stats Unit occasionally employs bank staff, provides training for the different stats recording procedures. We have lost experienced members of staff and recruited new ones, and often work unsocial hours when the need arises. The team also deals with numerous queries from colleagues, walk-in or telephone, without hesitation, ranging from requests for details about the treatments, patients contact details, and general departmental support. Our team has had to adapt to computer system changes, perform amidst occasional computer network challenges, and often having to incorporate increase in workloads that occur due to hospital mergers or department closures. We are a dedicated, happy and fun loving team who always welcome colleagues who come to our office. We believe that we, the Therapy Stats Team, are an integral part of the LNWH NHS Trust, and that our contributions in recording, corresponding, reporting, charging, allow the LNWH NHS Trust to excel in the excellent clinical care it provides. Our outputs are directly provided to senior management, across directorates, who are responsible in shaping the delivery of the therapy services. During the Covid times from February 2020 to July 2020 there were only 2 members Anjanee and Leena who took charge of the Stats office while others were on leave. Multi tasking and supporting each other came quite naturally to them. All the tasks were still completed in a timely professional manner. Assessing the situation we ensured that the returning team members are comfortable when they returned. All the PPE equipment were left ready for them to use and social distancing in the work area was organised. Honestly. We treat everyone as an Equal. We work as a self-supportive Team, treat all personal data that comes to us with utmost care (Accountable). We show Respect to all that we communicate with. We are the Therapy Stats Team. We have HEART. We are …. Karen, Hansha, Nirmala, Anjanee, Leena
