Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

Katherine joined us in 2018 and was quick to realise how many times the same information was replicated throughout a patient’s journey in Ravenswood House. This led her to write her own computer programme (much of which was in her own time), which she called The Hub, to enable this information to be automatically placed in the various reports, schedules, letters etc. required during a patient’s stay. Initial information is input once and other data retrieved from spreadsheets of other teams which is then held in a central place until it is required for a patient document, or similar, where the information is then automatically imported. The Hub is currently being rolled out across the medical secretary team at Ravenswood House. Katherine has also been highly commended for her work in updating and streamlining the local Learning from Incidents meeting, earning a Trust ‘You Shine’ award. Along with data gathering, Katherine has presented the incident information in a much more ‘eye friendly’ way, making it an easy to read document for all meeting delegates. Her work in this area was recently showcased in a senior managers meeting by our Deputy Director of Nursing. As a result of her innovative IT skills, Katherine has now been tasked with bringing our referrals/bed management process up to date, a task which she has embraced and already made great strides in just one week. The sharp, new style, meeting minutes also incorporates information from the previous spreadsheet effectively cutting the work here by half. This is an exciting piece of work suited to Katherine’s proactive approach and vision. Katherine’s outstanding achievements in these areas are testament to her depth of IT knowledge, creativity and expertise. We are incredibly lucky to have Katherine as a member of the administrative team at Ravenswood House.
