Nominee's story :

It is so hard to know where to start in nominating this team for the Team of the Year- Non Clinical Award. That’s because, in spite of the fact that they are always an amazing team, the last year seen them step up way beyond what I ever thought was possible. The work this team has done in the last year has been vital to the Trust’s response to COVID-19, both in terms of the way our patients and public are briefed on the situation but also in terms of how our staff are kept informed and supported as the pandemic has progressed. The team has stepped up to support our Gold command, in person, on a 7 day basis as well as providing a 24/7 Trust and system on-call service. This is a huge change to how the team works, and when at times we’ve had only 3 members of staff to do this is it no mean feat. The team members have gone above and beyond every single day- stepping out of their comfort zone in handling executive team members, advising Gold commanders and handling media, working many many late nights responding to media enquiries and staff and public questions and concerns. And in all of this, the team has also managed to ‘innovate’ and introduce new ways of communicating with staff and keeping them up to date on the important issues. This includes introducing daily SBAR messages and weekly executive team live broadcasts. I’d argue that comms has been a really vital service during this pandemic. Without the comms team our staff would not be informed on the ever-changing practices and procedures or supported through this difficult situation, and our public would not be informed on what they need to do. They are the most fantastic team to work with, who look after each other and many others with a smile every day. I am blessed to have such an awesome team.
