Nominee's story :

Bridgewater Community Healthcare provides care to patients across the North West and Cheshire. With staff situated across a large geographical footprint how we communicate with staff is so important. The need for regular, positive, key communication was highlighted from the start of the pandemic. The Communications Team shared daily Covid Bulletins, containing information relevant to staff withing each of the geographical areas. The innovative Bridgewater Staff Mobile App provided a platform to communicate directly to staff’s smartphones with notifications, email access, staff offers and key Trust news. The Communications team ensured the content on the Trust Intranet “the Hub” remained up to date and current, with the creation of intranet pages specific focus on the pandemic. This enabled staff to access information quickly, easily and submit any questions they may have. During the pandemic it was important for the visibility of the Senior Management team to continue, providing opportunities for staff to become up to date with Trust news and ask questions. With staff becoming very familiar with virtual meeting the monthly Team Brief meetings continued to take place via MS Teams, enabling all staff to access and listen to direct messages from the CEO. The Communication Team supported the Staff Engagement Lead in ensuring the annual celebration event and the Trust 10th Anniversary event took place but this time in a virtual sense. The Communication Team are always looking for new innovative ways of communicating with staff and the creation of the animated thank you message from the Senior Management Team really showcased the Communications Teams talents (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugES_NwbluY) Feedback from Staff following the Trust anniversary event was: “Loved the look and style” “Such a unique way to share the 10 years of Bridgewater” In June 2020 the Trust surveyed staff, the survey contained a question on communication and if staff felt they had access to all the information they need, from the staff hat responded: • 93% of staff felt they had been able to access all the information they need for Covid-19 Without the skills, knowledge, expertise, innovative skills of the Communication Team staff would not have been up to date with the news, information and support, they are a vital part of the Trust. The Communications Team are always happy to help and provide advice and support.
