Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

Nat has demonstrated truly outstanding work in the last year, not only has Nat supported her team through COVID and ensured that they are cared for, she has also managed and supported them as they have moved a library lock, stock, and barrel to another location in the most trying of circumstances - thus demonstrating the "patients, and people first" ethos of Southern Health NHS FT. Nat has shown clear partnership (another Southern Health value) in working with the University of Winchester and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to collaborate for the benefit of library services for all our staff and health care students - she has found ways to communicate and to express the needs of our library users whilst maintaining the highest standards that she holds herself to. Nat has proactively sought to involve her team in decision making and to include them in figuring out how to maintain library services whilst juggling working from home which demonstrates another of Southern Health's values - that of respect - she has shown kindness to colleagues struggling with COVID measures, empathy to staff working through grief; and loyalty and thoughtfulness to our library users as they grapple with remote working and new library premises. As the manager of this library service, I am fully cognizant of the fact the library move (during COVID!) would not have been nearly so efficient and effective without Nat's proactive leadership and drive to ensure that the project was kept on track. I am in awe of Nat's development in the last year, she has grown in her leadership skills and continues to do so. Nat has been incredibly resilient in finding ways to keep library services going whether staff are working from home or are based on site. I have no doubt that it has been difficult at times, and yet Nat continues to bounce back and find even more ways to improve library services for the benefit of our staff and students. I am incredibly proud of Nat and her fortitude, she is an asset to Hampshire Healthcare Library Service and it is time that everybody knew just how much she cares for (and does for) our library services for both Southern Health NHS FT and Hampshire Hospitals NHS FT.
