Nominee's story :
Julie is the most exceptional Medical Secretary I have ever met. She deserves to be recognised for her outstanding commitment and multiple extra miles of contributions she has made to Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for nearly two decades. Not only is she the Medical Secretary for four of our Medical Consultant colleagues, juggling their many commitments through her fantastic organisational skills, she supports the whole of the Inpatient Neurological Unit's staff and patients. The patients we care for have all had significant, lifechanging injuries and are with us for several months and there is no doubt, Julie personally has a positive impact on every single one of them.
Every day she goes above and beyond her role to help staff and patients. She is always available and supportive to patients and relatives who know they will have a kind, compassionate and sympathetic listener in Julie. During the Covid pandemic she ensured all relatives had passwords allocated so that they could receive regular updates on their loved one and led on keeping the relatives informed so as to free up clinical time during the significant pressures of the first and second wave.
She effortlessly coordinates all the clinical and non-clinical meetings on the unit, provides fantastic minutes from Patient Meetings which can often be emotive and challenging meetings, ensures our Clinical Outcome data is inputted accurately and in a timely manner, gently reminding us all of deadlines, collects data for audits and research - often at very short notice, and so many other things too numerous to list. She is the 'go to' person if you ever need anything and is always a listening ear if you need some TLC. I know she provides invalulable support to the rest of the admin team, somehow managing to cover reception when they are short-staffed.
Julie is the glue that holds us all together, thank you from the bottom of all The Team INRU hearts!
