Nominee's story :

Back in early January 2021 the inpatient admin team at Kendray Hospital wanted to do something collectively as a team to help with the Covid-19 vaccinations for staff. A few emails and phone calls later and the team started taking phone calls on Monday 11 January 2021 at 9am and became the Covid-19 vaccine booking line team in order to book staff into appointments for their vaccine, change their appointments, cancel appointments and assist with any general enquiries. They continued with this work until Friday 21st May 2021 when the phone line was officially closed. The phone line was manned on a rota basis between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday and the team were assisted in manning the phones by other members of the community and in-patient general ops admin team including the seamstress, new entrants who had recently joined the Community Nursing Referral Service (CNRS) team and the Community Secretaries team. All the staff involved worked together to ensure the phone was duly diverted to the next person on the rota, that a weekly rota was issued and in place ready for the next week, provided information to the vaccine hubs on same day cancellations and flagged up any issues. This was all done in addition to their existing daily workloads. The team helped over 4,500 members of staff to be vaccinated. In a recent survey 98% of staff said they were very satisfied or satisfied with the efficiency of our vaccination service; and 97.5% of staff were very satisfied or satisfied with their overall experience of having a vaccine at the Trust. All those involved thoroughly enjoyed helping, doing something different to their normal duties and overall doing their bit for the cause. The team had an amazing impact through their efficient, friendly and knowledgeable approach. They have been stars throughout the process and deserve recognition for their impact and what they have delivered.
