Nominators Answer
Nominee's story :
We would like to nominate Natalie Hooper from the finance and procurement department of Mersey Care.
There has been a significant impact of COVID for our procurement and finance teams. Procurement challenge was immense in the early wave of COVID with the supply and availability of PPE but our financial services team were also hugely impacted by the need to ensure we made quick payments to suppliers supporting our economy, with new, much shorter deadlines (goal -10 days to pay). Natalie was responsible as she is responsible for the accounts payable team, and ensured she kept the Trust on track, keeping our accounts payable functioning at all times during the last year, as a business critical function for the organisation.
Once out of the first COVID wave, we delivered a change to our financial ledger system. We moved from our existing ledger, to NHS Shared Business Services in October 2020, and in doing so, were the first organisation nationally to achieve 100% virtual implementation. All training, and project deliverables were delivered virtually by off site support from NHS SBS, and key finance team members particularly Natalie without whom the achievement of this would not have been possible.
Natalie worked tirelessly to support staff across the trust both within and outside the finance department to ensure staff understood how the system works and that our clinical services experienced as little disruption as possible when the finance system changed. In addition, as part of the implementation Natalie provided a lot of the data cleansing and inputting of the new data sets. she frequently went above and beyond to ensure the new system was as accurate as possible whilst meeting some extremely tight deadlines.
Natalie is also studying to become a professionally qualified accountant and impressively restarted her studies in the last 12 months. She truly embodies the trust values of, Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Enthusiasm, Respect and Support in all of her work.
