Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

I joined New Hayesbank Surgery as a locum in February 2019. Right from the very first day, I was struck by the professionalism shown by Caron to the extent that I asked her if the practice was looking for a partner even though my commute was 2 hours to New Hayesbank Surgery. I have worked in many practices before and promised myself not to settle at one place due to various reasons. However, I could see myself working at this surgery for good and Caron was one of the deciding factor. After various interviews, I became the partner and soon COVID hit. Caron has been at the forefront of managing the practice, clinicians, healthcare staff. She took over various extended roles and very soon the whole PCN (Primary Care Network) started depending on her leadership. Her insight, utmost attention to detail, open approach, team working, networking ability has been exemplary. In winter of 2020, she was present on various vaccination clinics soaked wet in rain but still managed to send me a smiley selfie! She helped set up the local COVID vaccination centre and has been managing various aspect of its management actively since then. She still volunteers various weekends from her own time to go and be the manager of the COVID vaccination centre. Caron also manages our Kent Eye Centre and has been there on a very short notice on weekends to help troubleshoot and fix any issues. To say that the last year has been tough for NHS would be an understatement. Things are still very challenging. But when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Caron has definitely been very resilient and not even that she exudes calmness which has a direct positive effect on the whole team. She knows almost every team member (more than 50) on personal level. Me and Caron set up our social medial platform on Facebook which (I think) has been very successful in getting the news and various messages out to our patients. Caron recently set up a Coaching session for all our staff members where staff can discuss various personal/professional issues with an advisor. I have my session booked tomorrow. I have not known many people like her to be honest. She truly is the backbone of our surgery/PCN/eye centre. I am not very eloquent with writing praises but I cannot recommend Caron enough!
