Nominee's story :
The Safeguarding Children's team at HMR are a new team with 2 of the members starting in during the Pandemic. The whole team, having never all met face to face, have shown such commitment to each other and drive to ensure the health and wellbeing of the children in the borough through providing exceptional leadership, training and support to health colleagues. The team have shown exceptional work ethic ,going above and beyond within their differing roles and helping the team outside of their daily duties where necessary to support each other. The team have developed strong working relationships with health and social care colleagues and multidisciplinary agencies, usually through technological platforms that can create barriers, through the high level of interpersonal skills such as clear communication, Conflict management and resolution skills and respect.
The team have developed and delivered specialist safeguarding children training packages during the Safeguarding Children Week for the Northern Care Alliance to ensure practitioners have up to date, evidence based knowledge and understanding of topics such as Child sexual exploitation, Adverse Childhood Experiences and lessons learnt from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews. We have supported the Rochdale Children and Young People’s Partnership training Partnership in delivering essential training to ensure Children and Young people are safeguarded across the borough.
In the current climate the demands and pressures to ensure the safety of children have been unprecedented, however the team have shown exceptional drive for innovation and proactive leadership to ensure mandated safeguarding supervision is available to staff and training is continued to be delivered despite the challenges and demands on the service.
The leadership and support provided by the Named Nurse has been outstanding and ensured the team have continued to provide the level of commitment, work ethic and resilience during this time. The team have been equally supported by our invaluable administration staff, without which the team would not be able to complete their work ( not just thanks to the wonderful brew's made by Joanne).
