Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

Sarah is such a key part of our team. Sarah is the admin support for our Neurological out patient therapy team across both Amber Valley and Erewash. Sarah does so much for us all but has gone above and beyond in the last 12-18 months. As clinicians we have to complete a covid screen via telephone prior to visiting, this can be very difficult for patient facing staff who aren't always in the office regularly. Sarah has taken the initiative to complete many of these calls on our behalf without being asked. She also has taken responsibilty for ensuring we all have enough PPE and will ensure that PPE is moved between the sites for all staff to make it more convenient for collection. She has highlighted any PPE issues that we report and will ensure that this information is taken to the right person. Sarah has also had to deal with many difficult phone calls from patients who aren't happy with the current waiting times. She deals with this in such a calm and considerate manner and with empathy for patients and their carers. Sarah has some ongoing health issues which cause her some difficulties but she never lets this get in the way of her work. We have had a couple of patients where we have had to ensure our own safety and Sarah has been our official buddy so that we can call her prior to going into a home and afterwards. She really does look after us all and she has no idea how much clinical time she saves for us. Sarah is hard working and she does so much for us all. We usually work in an out patient setting so it has been difficult to adapt to seeing patients more in their own homes. We have had teething problems and I have had to call Sarah many a time so she can help me navigate to homes that are tricky to find! As a team we would all like her to know how appreciative we are.
