Nominee's story :

Phil retired from General Practice on 30/6/2021 after nearly 12 years of fantastic service as a business manager and partner. All those years ago when Phil joined the practice, everything was very different. Many of the partners at the time were sceptical about the descision to recruit a business manager. From the very beginnning it was obvious what a wise move this was and in Phil we picked a superb candidate. Very quickly Phil began the process of transforming the care we offerred patients. Patients and their experience were put to the heart of what we do at the practice. not only has Phil improved Seaford medical Practice but he will leave a massive imprint on the healthcare provison offerred to all of Seaford's residents via his Primary Care Network work and the whole of Sussex via his work at the Clinical Commisioning Group. Many of us at the practice and people who work with Phil in all his roles were surprised and upset to hear of his retirement plans. Many people expressed their gratitude at having worked alongside him and having the opportunity to learn from his experience. One practice manager described Phil as a legend. His performace has not faltered even despite the stresses of the pandemic. He should take massive personal pride in the instrumental role he has played in achieving the fantastic success of our local Covid vaccination uptake. He retires very much at the top of his game and seems to have sprinted for the line rather than slowed his pace. This has included carefully preparing his hand over to Lisa, his successor. As this has been a slightly shorter handover, we are fortunate that Phil has offerred to help out over the next few months. We are aiming to organise a practice social celebration event once restrictions allow to wish Phil a proper farewell hoping to raise a glass and toast Phil's retirement and recognition for all his hard work over the years. Phil is not being sent away empty handed, the partners have contributed to a new paddle board and we hope he spends more time on it than in the water !!
