Nominee's story :
This small team has continuously worked throughout the pandemic, ensuring that patients under the care of Bolton Symptomatic Breast Services have received the highest standard of written and verbal communication.
They have endeavored to ensure that despite theatres in the trust being utilised for COVID patients, that the Breast Cancer patients surgical needs have been provided for within the private sector by their NHS consultant. They have guaranteed that plans are followed, notes are available and patients fully informed of the pathway and any unexpected alterations to their individual plans of care. By doing this they have made sure that both patients, relatives, surgeons and the nursing team have followed an trouble free surgical journey.
To achieve this they have displayed high standards of professionalism, communicating effectively not only within the immediate team but within the trust and private sector, as well as treating each patient with dignity, respect and empathy.
Not only have they provided support for the surgical patients but have also been a link to the patients having delayed surgical interventions that due to COVID have been cancelled for over 16 months.
Throughout the pandemic the team has supported each other and the wider team by consistently coming into the work environment and being ever present to answer not only patients queries but those of the immediate team and other professionals throughout the trust.
They have been welcoming and adaptable to an ever changing environment, constantly thriving to succeed whilst being a motivational drive for each other.
We feel that this team are highly deserving of recognition for the huge contribution they have made to Breast Services , patients and staff, and are a credit to the NHS.
