Nominee's story :
The Governance team are the glue that underpins all things governance - keeping the organisation safe and ensuring that we have a robust process in place to escalate issues and provide assurance to our Board, our Governors and ultimately and most importantly to the people we serve.
They are a relatively new team and have had some challenges over recent years but are incredibly supportive of each other and of others in the wider trust.
They have developed some great working practices with a shared dashboard in place to ensure that papers are distributed in a timely manner and all actions from meetings are picked up and addressed - unless there are exceptional circumstances meeting papers are now timely and accurate and the team do their best to support the authors of papers recognising that our clinical staff are busy and do not always have the time needed to provide the information needed.
As a team they provide great support to each other - they work incredibly well together through shared files and shared email with a seamless handover so that even when they are down in numbers they still manage to get the work done.
They are all prepared if needed to work flexibly and have at times worked late into the evening on a Friday night to ensure work is completed and papers published before the weekend - this might not sound like much when compared to other more patient facing services but it is a vital part of what we do.
As a team they also support our Council of Governors and our members and deal very patiently with enquiries often going out of their way to offer IT support to governors who are struggling to ensure that our meetings are accessible to all. As we have come out of the restrictions of Covid they have started to look for new ways to engage with the public and our members and recently ran our second Health Fair - working with our local college to run an event alongside our annual members' meeting to provide a platform for engagement with the local community - this was a great success and is something we hope to grow year on year.
Governors and Board members have commented on the improvements in governance over the last 18 months and this is down to the hard work of this team.
As well as working hard they also have fun and do their best to make time in work a pleasure - they are a great team and well deserving of recognition
