Nominee's story :
Amanda works as our Band 4 admin manager for a developing and growing enhanced mental health team in primary care in a busy locality. Amanda has been part of the team for 18 months and works above and beyond every day growing and supporting the team. She is the glue and backbone of the team- we have 45 staff and she supports all with care, compassion, kindness, and a responsiveness that enables our trained staff to provide an excellent level of care to patients. She has supported inducting all these staff, ensuring all have right equipment, start on time and she trouble shoots all problems and always thoughtful, compassionate and shows empathy.
Amanda is responsible for admin duties, supervising junior admin, processes and pathways, new starters, Liaison with It/HR/recruitment, data collection and taking minutes/ supporting cooperste meetings. Amanda is involved in projects, improving patient care, organises staff events, develops publications, and literally many more things not part of job role. Whenever an issue Amanda is there validating, supporting and problem solving. Examples are when staff have IT/access issues and recently we had members of staff who had equipment stolen - Amanda deals with these situations quickly, contacting all services needed, reasurring staff with empathy and compassion and formulating a plan very quickly ensuring staff can do their jobs and work efficiently. Staff always feedback how important Amanda is to our team and how she has excellent communication skills, is highly organised, committed and supportive to all staff.
Amanda shows outstanding achievements in her role which highlight her innovative, dynamic approach and demonstates her high level IT skills, incredible attention to detail and enthusiasm for service. She developed a detailed induction pack for new staff/ 38 surgeries and staff always feedback they feel supported, settled quickly due to Amanda's kindness, regular check in and her depth of interpersonal skills enables this. She also recently lead on editing a detailed operating policy that forms the teams processes. She developed a flowchart for GP/ talking therapies that embeds a no wrong door approach of getting patients to the right place: hugely important in mental health.
Amanda posses many leadership qualities: is enthusiastic, passionate, encouraging, responsive, shows initiative, quick thinking ,dynamic, celebrates others achievements, and clear to everyone she loves her role and helping others to do and be their best.
As part of role, Amanda is a PA to me as service manager and don't know how I'd cope without her- acually I do..she was off due to planned operation for 6 weeks and quite frankly it was hideous lol! She is honestly the nicest, kindest, funniest, hard working, reliable and dedicated colleague. She makes my job easier managing my diary, ensuring deadlines met, doing minutes to very high standard, liasing with multiple departments, developing documents and nothing is ever too much for her.
She is the heart of team, an absolute pleasure to work with and would love to show her how lucky we are to have her. Thank you Amanda for all you do💓
