Nominators Answer
Nominee's story :
Sophie has been a bright and caring personality in the team for 7 years. Her performance has been nothing short of outstanding. She is highly capable, efficient and organised. All her work is of a high standard and she regularly goes above and beyond what would be expected in her role. She uses her initiative, comes up with great ideas but also gets things done quickly and efficiently. She is a brilliant advocate for our service and is hugely supportive to all her colleagues. Sophie is an absolutely integral part of the smooth running of our service.
Sophie communicates clearly, concisely and confidently when speaking to patients and professionals in terms of asking helpful/relevant questions, particularly when taking referrals. She is often their first point of contact with our team so this is very important for our reputation.
We very much appreciate her involvement in being our link with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists for using Therapy Outcome Measures to show our effectiveness as a service. She has also played a significant part in a project to improve access for patients with communication difficulties in the hospital and she impresses everyone she meets across all levels of the healthcare professions.
Sophie is also very knowledgeable about low and high tech communication aids that we provide for our patients. She makes high quality resources and programs devices following caring and sensitive liaison with the patients or family members.
I feel like Sophie's the glue that holds the team together. She is so good at coming up with fun ideas to boost the teams wellbeing, like games at lunchtime, and is always looking out for us all. She never complains, even when she is very busy with demands coming from all directions. She was particularly adaptable and supportive to the team during the pandemic.
She spends a lot of her time nominating other members of the team for awards because she thinks we deserve the recognition, so it would be great if we had the opportunity to return the favour.
