Nominee's story :
Sharon has been in her current role for 1 year, but as a personal assistant (PA) to an incredibly busy and demanding team in Research and Innovation (R&I) in one of the largest NHS Trust, she has made all our lives easier, by being efficient, obliging and hard working. From day 1, Sharon shows initiative to encourage the team to work effectively; she pro-actively ensures she dedicates time to meet with the team weekly to ensure she can support the team to the max. Sharon has impressed us with her rapid learning curve, conquering the challenge of becoming familiar with the nuances of the working and language involved in the multi-facets of research and innovation, managing complex diaries of many individuals, succeeding in coordinating complex meeting minutes, and always with a smile. Sharon has transformed the crucial support for the senior R&I team. She has never been off sick, and her work ethics have embodied the Leeds Way. Sharon is well liked by everyone in the team, she has great interpersonal skills in person, and is reflected on her emails.
She is thoughtful, and kind, and these qualities were true to Sharon, when she was on leave, and had planned to drive through the darkness of the night (at 2am!) to get to her holiday destination, so that her dog is not affected by the heat in summer during the drive!
Sharon’s drive to ensure maximum support for the team is absolutely refreshing, as things just get done! I can delegate a task to Sharon, and she would be creative in making sure things are done on time. Sharon is independent in planning the best strategy to complete a task, which means we can get on with jobs that need our skills.
Sharon makes is a joy for us to come to work, as she ensures we can focus on other tasks whilst she takes care of the support we need. People like Sharon deserves recognition for the positive impact they have to facilitate organisations to function effectively. Therefore I would like to nominate Sharon for the award, as she more than deserves it, as she is truly an unsung hero, as she is dedicated to her job and quietly gets on with her duties, and constantly goes over and above to check in to see what else she can do to support us. She epitomises what the ideal personal assistant is.
