Nominee's story :
The Research Admin Team are based in the Horizon Centre at Torbay Hospital. Although a small team, they are committed, friendly and hard working. Every day they fully support each other and clinical teams, not just within research but within the hospital, to ensure that the delivery of research for patients is delivered in a safe manner and that all relevant ethics and governance rules are adhered to.
The support they contribute enables their research delivery team colleagues to recruit participants to much needed research along with meeting their own targets during the year.
They are involved at every stage of a study from the set-up to closeout and archiving. They do this whilst managing over 160 studies that are currently taking place at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
They work tirelessly throughout sometimes difficult circumstances (e.g. the pandemic), having to adapt to different ways of working at short notice, to giving their all and stepping up to achieve the very short timescales setting up a number of Urgent Public Health research studies and working alongside another research department in Devon to work on a vaccine study whilst continuing to support local studies too at the same time with commitment.
They are a very positive and knowledgeable admin team who are continually working hard to streamline and standardise areas of our work wherever possible and communicate to everyone to continually support any improvement, performance and achievements of the whole research team making it an innovative place to work.
