Nominee's story :
Laura has always been the most dedicated, driven, compassionate and loyal member of the management team within the Psychological Medicine and Older Adults directorate. She is so humble, she would never acknowledge that she quietly holds up the directorate through her attention to detail and thoroughness keeping on top of timescales and large pieces of work that other people don't always prioritise.
Laura is the source of all knowledge and on top of everything and is always approachable and available to her colleagues and in being this way, helps colleagues feel constantly supported.
Laura has picked up pieces of work that others feel daunted by and her commitment to the directorate has kept us all on track and moving forward in creating the best services possible for our patients.
Despite not having direct patient contact, Laura keeps patients at the forefront of her work and her contributions within meetings, helping to ensure patient's line of site is considered throughout the directorate.
Laura's personal resilience when faced with staffing challenges and increasing work loads alongside her own health challenges is incredibly inspiring.
Each month she captures the successes within the directorate through a monthly newsletter (the only directorate to have one) and makes a point of publicising and celebrating the successes alongside her obvious drive to do her part in improving services for all.
Laura is always friendly and remembers what is happening in the lives of each of her colleagues, and can identify the skills of those around her to utilise everyone's strengths and abilities.
Nothing is too much for Laura - at least she doesn't let us think it is!
It has been a total pleasure to work with Laura over the last 8 years and I truly believe her professional contribution, kindness, drive, determination, resilience and quite focus has contributed to every success the directorate has achieved. I would love for her to be recognised for this as she is the true definition of an unsung hero.
