Nominee's story :
Sabira started her research career in January 2022 as a Data Administrator. She was pivotal in successful delivery of 2 Cystic Fibrosis trials. The team couldn’t have kept up with the data and continued to recruit without her involvement. Her data entry completion being second to none allowed the Clinical team to recruit to the trial with confidence in knowing that the data would be completed in an accurate and timely manner.
After developing her skillset, she was successfully appointed as a Research Coordinator in the Haematology Oncology research team in February 2023, earning a promotion within 13 months. She joined the team at a crucial time, there had been a turnover in administrative staff which left a 3-4 month period of no administrative support. Despite her limited experience she did not shy away and rose to the challenge she was faced with.
She’s not afraid to ask questions, and always willing to take on any task presented to her. She has a flexible and can-do attitude and is highly respected by her clinical and administrative colleagues alike.
She uses her own initiative, is a problem solver and was pivotal in building up the administrative support within the team. She tackles every obstacle at ease, providing and finding a resolutions to resolve queries within a timely manner. The accuracy and attention to detail she demonstrates enables the team to recruit to complex and potentially live saving treatment which is invaluable to our patients.
Dr Eleni Tholouli says of Sabira ‘Sabira is outstanding! Having joined our team when we were in a right mess, this has not put her off and she has just rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in it. Sabira is confident, competent and takes everything in her stride. She always has a smile when approaching and I know that what she takes on she completes to a high standard. I just trust her and love her for what she brings to our team’.
Sabira is a rising star in research with an exceptional work ethic, consistently goes above and beyond, and deserves to be recognised for the contributions she has given to MFT.
