Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

Dave has been he director of Fundraising at the Stars appeal for Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2005 until present day. During his time he has been part of fundraising on average one million pounds each year for the benefit of patients and staff at Salisbury Hospital. These efforts, have hugely increased the scope of what the hospital is able to offer as well better experiences for patients in the most stressful of times. Huge achievements include getting a second MRI scanner and the developments of specialist units like the Benson bereavement suite or neonatal suite. Staff too feel valued by the thoughtfulness of the support offered by the Stars Appeal, made possible by Dave's persistent and creative search for finds. Dave's passion for his job is obvious as any interaction with patient or staff, results in an enthusiastic drive to help and serve the local community in a new way. Whilst obviously his job is directed at fundraising, Dave is people person who makes a connection with whoever he meets. He is a great communicator and if you have ever heard him speak at an event, you will know that there is never a dry eye in the house. He never fails to loose sight of the fact that he ultimate goal is the improvement for patients and staff and not the fundraising goals set by the committee. His job is not nine to five but involves many evenings and weekends, in social fundraising events, usually being the first to arrive and the last to leave. Under his directorship, the charity has grown from strength to strength, with increased vigour and a passionate following of supporters, patients and staff alike. This year, alone the walk for wards raised the most funds ever with over 2000 people walking and raising £157922. He looks after a small but incredibly hard working and efficient team, who respond to any queries within hours and wherever possible - make miracles happen! Its not possible to describe all the amazing things that Dave has contributed to but the attached documents describes just this year's achievements and notably, you will not see a picture of Dave as he so humble but he is the man behind all the magic that happens at Salisbury Stars appeal!
