Nominee's story :
Sarah is the Executive Assistant to our Chief Executive and Chairman and manages the team of Executive Assistants who support the Executive team.
All successful Chief Executives have an indivdiual supporting them to make that possible, but Sarah goes above and beyond. She has grown her role to one beyond that of an Executive Assistant, becoming more of a Business Manager for our Chief Executive - supporting him with key pieces of work as well as keeping him well organised and ready for whatever comes his way. She also supports our Chairman and the team of Non-Executive Directors - not always easy as they are not in the organisation all of the time so anticipating their needs ahead of time is critical.
Managing the team of Executive Assistants with a team of indivdiuals with very different personalities and ways of working has been a challenge and yet Sarah has taken this on as a junior line manager - she has tackled a number of tensions with the team and got them working much more effectively together. For someone without formal leadership training until this year she has stepped into that challenge extremely professionally.
Sarah is the epitome of professionalism - always presenting a confident front to anyone coming via her to the CEO and the Chairman. And yet despite how busy she is she always has time for others and regularly takes on jobs outside her remit to help the wider team.
I love working alongside Sarah as she is always cheerful and does not let the pressure of her work get in the way of having time for colleagues. She has grown in confidence in the last 12 months and it has been a privilege to watch someone grow and develop in the way she has.
And yet because she sits behind two people who are the front face of the Trust she is often behind the scenes not getting credit for the part she plays in their success.
She is a fantastic colleague and a huge asset to our organisation.
