Nominee's story :
Lawrence is the very heart beat of the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Theatres team. His drive, enthusiasm and personality shine bright throughout the hospital site and he is well known by all the departments. Lawrence goes above and beyond everyday to ensure that the team in theatres are supported with a variety of administration and clerical roles ranging from stock ordering, IT maintenance, Medical devices Maintenance and general estates maintenance plus ensuring the operating department orderlies provide the clinical teams with an excellent service. Having worked at the NOC for many years Lawrence is an integral part of the team and what Lawrence doesn't know is not worth knowing! His kindness and humour to all staff can be heard in the corridors and coffee room and his laughter is infectious, he is simply a tonic of health and well being. Lawrence is very humble and always willing to learn and expand his knowledge, always willing to help especially where patients are concerned. Having been very ill himself some years ago, Lawrence has an unique ability to empathise with patients and staff. He will go the extra mile and is always happy to help.
In the NHS there are many people that go the extra mile and do extraordinary jobs but there are few that you meet that can bridge the gap from the chief nurse to the cleaners with such a bright infectious personality. I would like to recognise Lawrence for his contribution to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in many more ways than perhaps he realises.
