Nominee's story :

Asif is a support service team co-ordinator for the West Yorkshire regional service named CREST. The community rehabilitation support team offers a service to support individuals out of area for SMI (serious mental illness) and CEN (complex emotional needs). Asif supports all this large service in any administration and clerical duties alongside training and recruiting further admin support staff for the evolving and expansive service. There isn't a day when Asif isn't cheerful and smiling in the office, and always seeking out ways to help team members or just by being himself and making their day. Asif was key to my induction as an OT lead by being a friendly face, helping me through any tasks and going above and beyond to making sure I had everything I need so quickly. He quickly became someone I could rely on but always thought about what the team needed before they even asked - he is so efficient and driven in every aspect possible. During times of staff shortage Asif is always identifying ways to support the team and ensuring processes are as smooth as possible and makes a positive contribution to our health and wellbeing at times of uncertainty. Asif also handles calls from service users and demonstrated an exceptional level of interpersonal skills - when handing this over it is done so delicately and with a high level of empathy and kindness. There has been many times Asif has supported his colleagues and peers in maintaining optimism and being kind to others. Asif manages a number of projects, other admin staff and queries and calls - however is always asking to help and support others. Asif will always make time and be efficient and effective in what is asked of him. The CREST team are always stating how grateful they are for Asif's support and we truly believe he is a consistent impressive individual we all look at with great admiration. Asif truly deserves the unsung hero award - and we are very lucky to have him!
