Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

This is my first ever submission for an award, as I truly believe Nasser deserves this award and he’s definitely an asset to the service/trust. I have been part of IT Service Desk within Health Informatics Service and have known Nasser Mohammed for most of that time. We are part of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, oversee the installation and maintenance of computer network systems and ensure that these run smoothly and efficiently. He supports gateway for all information, communication and technology and ICT training for approximately 3800 staff across all Trust sites and additional locations across Leeds and York boundaries. His desk has been a hub for virtually all digital activities within our Trust, spanning various extents and points in time. His central responsibility involves overseeing all digital support functions for the trust, however his impact is felt much wider, and he has become the 'go-to' person that pulls all the services together. The reason Nasser earns the title of our Service Desk Superhero due to his exceptional interpersonal skills, characterized by kindness, empathy, loyalty and thoughtfulness, while still being humble and somewhat unaware of the huge contribution he is making to patient care across trust sites. His method revolves around efficiently completing tasks, consistently discovering solutions to overcome perceived obstacles. He consistently stays a step ahead, anticipating requirements based on his experience, and proactively dealing with issues he identifies along the way. He operates with minimal fuss or fanfare, always in the background but undeniably one of the key driving forces behind all our efforts in the Services. When there's a need for progress in anything digital or if individuals are uncertain about whom to approach for answers or actions, the common refrain is often 'where's Nasser.' This applies to Departmental Managers, Digital Innovators, Technicians and Directors, both internally and across various Health organizations and within the Trust. In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, the organization undertook a comprehensive initiative to enhance remote work capabilities for our service. Nasser successfully deployed over 2000 laptops, equipping users with the necessary tools to continue their work seamlessly from home. This strategic deployment aimed to ensure business continuity and maintain productivity during these unprecedented times. Working diligently both during regular hours and beyond, tirelessly ensuring the delivery of patient care remains unaffected. In addition to providing hardware solutions, he implemented advanced remote software, enabling efficient access to users devices from remote locations. This not only streamlined collaboration but also facilitated technical support, ensuring that our team members could access assistance and resources whenever needed. Recognizing the importance of maintaining operational efficiency, he further innovated by creating a robust digital system for stock checks. This system not only automated the stock monitoring process but also enhanced accuracy and responsiveness in managing inventory levels. This digital solution proved instrumental in optimizing our supply chain and ensuring that resources were effectively allocated, contributing to the overall resilience of our organization during the challenging circumstances brought about by the pandemic. Nasser consistently downplays the significance of his contributions and the impact of his work, despite the reality being quite the opposite. He remains diligent, dedicated, and focused on outcomes, all while maintaining a compassionate, people-focused approach and providing support to everyone, regardless of their role, position or request.
