Nominators Answer

Nominee's story :

We are an OPCMHT and are nominating our Team Admin, Faye Tarrant, for the Unsung Hero Award! Faye joined the team less than 18 months ago. Prior to this, the team (apart from Medics) had no dedicated admin support. We had all become used to incorporating administrative tasks within our working day, impacting significantly on our clinical time. Faye quickly settled into the team. Her calm, friendly and approachable manner meant she developed good working relationships with the whole team. Her previous knowledge and experience was invaluable and enables her to support the team with a wide range of tasks. If you don’t know how to do something, know how to report an issue, or locate a contact number, Faye is the person to go to. Faye manages her workload with ease and quiet efficiency and the impact on the team has not gone unnoticed! Faye’s role within the team is not specific to administrative tasks. Perhaps even more importantly, it is noticeable that all Staff will make their way to Faye to have short, informal chats. She provides a safe space for Staff to talk about their worries and offers helpful advice, so is essential for their well-being. She is equally compassionate and patient when talking to patients over the phone, and her calm manner goes a long way to relieving some of the stress they may be feeling. The whole team agree that Faye’s presence within the team is invaluable. As she is based in the office, she is an important source of consistency throughout the week. She combines professionalism with enthusiasm and Staff feel more comfortable and supported when she is there. She is patient and never complains at any question or task that is asked of her. She is proactive and does anything to make everyone’s working day that little bit easier. The true measure of a valuable staff member is how the team feel when that person isn’t there and if Faye is taking well deserved annual leave, the ripple of anxiety is palpable. Every member of the team notices and comments on her absence and looks forward to her return; the relief when she is back is plain to see! Faye’s value is also noticed by Staff in other teams, who have commented not only on how helpful she is when covering her counterparts, but how efficient she is. Faye is a joy to have in the team and, although she has been with us a relatively short space of time, she has successfully made the role her own and it feels like she has been with us forever. We cannot imagine our team without her. She has the best work ethic and clearly cares about the patients and the team. She truly is our Unsung Hero!!!
