The Only National Awards For Non-Medical / Non-Clinical NHS Staff & Volunteers

Adie Gillett

29th April 2019

Adie Gillett, an X-ray Porter from Hinchingbrooke Hospital won for being described as “cheerful, polite and always says “hello” to everyone that he meets. He is a breath of fresh air.”

His nominee stated that: Adie oversees the care of patients travelling from wards to the X-ray department, and he does a fantastic job. When my Granddad was a patient at North West Anglia, Adie never forgot his name and at the scariest time of my Granddads life Adie looked after him and made him feel safe. When Adie collects a patient from a bay he will engage with other patients, especially those he has previously taken to X-ray. He will call them each by name and ask them how they are doing.

Adie makes all patients feel comfortable and he really cares for them and for other staff members too. He is a pivotal member of staff, who ensures the smooth safe transfer of patients between wards and nothing is too much trouble for him. He deserves recognition for the care, compassion and efficiency that he shows daily.

“I felt honoured to win an award when there was so much competition” – Adie Gillett.
